Cancer as a worldwide issue

Cancer is an umbrella term for a large group of diseases that affects any part of the body. Around the world many suffer and die of different types of cancer. Based on the statistics provided by International Agency for research on Cancer the most common types of cancer in 2018 are Lung, Breast, colorectal, Prostate, Skin cancer, and stomach cancer, which among the mentioned cases the most globally common causes  and the highest rank of cancer deaths are due to Lung cancers.

This enormous universal leading cause of death causes over 8 million death due to cancer-related diseases per year. It is estimated that by the year 2035 almost 15 million lives are ended due to cancer each year which this means 1 in 6 dies of this disease. 70% of cancer- related deaths occur in low- and middle-income countries, about one third of deaths are due to low fruit and vegetable intake, lack of physical activity, tobacco and alcohol use and high body mass index. Among the mentioned causes the highest risk factor for cancer is Tobacco use, which nearly is 22% of cancer deaths. And nearly 25% of cancer deaths in low and middle income countries are due to Hepatitis and human papilloma virus (HPV).

Based on the 2018 report provided by World Cancer Research, Australia has the highest cancer rate for both woman and man together at 468.0 people per 100,000. Generally the countries with the highest rate of cancer are Oceania, Europe and North America. The first top 10 high rated is in the following table:

Cancer in Iran

Based on the latest statistics of year 2018, Iran has 82011737 people which 248392 suffer from prevalent cases and around 55785 die of cancer. The most common types of cancers in Iran are related to breast, stomach, lung, bladder, prostate, Leukaemia, Brain, nervous system and thyroid.

 Among these cancer –related diseases Iranian men mostly suffer from stomach, prostate and bladder cases respectively, and breast cancer have the highest rank among Iranian women then stomach and thyroid cancer  are the second and third most prevalent cases. Over all man owe 55.5 percent and woman 44.5 percent of cancer diseases in Iran.
